Coolum
Coolum is a relaxed beachside village popular with families and couples 20 minutes south of Noosa. With a year-round patrolled surf beach and wonderful bays to explore, Coolum Beach is perfect to get away and enjoy the natural coastal environment.
A variety of Coolum Beach Accommodation is available, from penthouses and luxury villas to self-contained apartments and budget accommodation including a beachfront camping and caravanning park.
Things to do:
With something for everyone, Coolum is home to world champion surfers having grown up surfing our famous breaks. Why not try out some surf lessons or hire surf boards, boogie boards and stand up paddle boards down on the beach and through your accommodation hosts. Coolum also boasts one of the best beachside boardwalks on the Sunshine Coast, following the coastline for many kilometres.
A mecca for golfers Coolum is home to the Australian PGA Golf Tournament and the Hyatt Regency Coolum golf course is a must for any serious golfer. Mount Coolum golf course also offers a less challenging but just as delightful 18 hole course. Both located in the shadow of Mount Coolum in picturesque surroundings and the occasional Kangaroo popping in to check out the action.
Proudly protective of the environment, Coolum Coast Care have created wonderful sanctuaries for flora and fauna, boasting many natural bush walks from the Northern Mount Emu winding through Coolum Beach and down to Yaroomba, including the infamous Mount Coolum, the domed mountain that greets you as you drive northward towards Noosa. Mount Coolum requires a good level of fitness and is accessible via Tanah Street West off David Low Way.
For the active and adventurous, why not try a spot of skydiving? A beautiful spot with a local family run crew. Perhaps bike riding is your thing? Between Noosa and Maroochydore with the hinterland town of Yandina not far away, there is plenty of great trails for you to enjoy.
The newly renovated Esplanade precinct and cafe strip running along David Low Way and winding around to Birtwill Street, offers a variety of cafes and award-winning restaurants for you to enjoy. With entertainment and buskers to delight you on a Saturday morning, why not enjoy the fresh sea air over a coffee or pack a picnic and take the kids over to play in Tickle Park, where the playground overlooks the sea?
Coolum Surf Club has regular entertainment and there are a variety of events on in Coolum throughout the year. A must-do is the Friday night Bare Foot Bowls at the Coolum Beach Bowls Club. Affordable and fun for the whole family or a great night with friends to kick off the weekend.
Coolum is perfectly positioned for fabulous views up and down the Coast and is one of the best land-based whale watching spots on the Sunshine Coast.
