the real people of noosa
1 Why Noosa? What brought you here?
I was fortunate enough to be offered a job here. I was living in Melbourne and holidaying in Noosa. While here I spoke to a couple of companies in the Sports/Event industries and several months later I was offered a position at Noosa Springs.
2 What did you do in a former life, before coming to Noosa?
I was spending 10 hours a day looking at a wall, and backs, at Collins Place Physiotherapy Clinic. I had also recently completed several years of post grad studies in Management with the objective of working in Sport Management.
3 What makes you stay in Noosa? Describe your relationship with the place?
The lifestyle and natural beauty keeps me in Noosa. I feel very relaxed here and really enjoy the outdoor lifestyle, I am very lucky that my work contributes to this feeling. Additionally, Noosa is a destination that attracts a wide demographic of person and that adds to the place.
4 What do you do?
My primary role is to develop and sustain relationships with corporate Australia. Essentially I get the money to make the events viable.
5 What makes Noosa ‘tick’ and what are its unique characteristics?
The people, the weather, the environment, the dining, the tourists and of course the events! Noosa is a great eclectic mix of thoughts, customs and attitudes. It is where the country and the city meet the coast.
6 How would you describe Noosa to someone with no knowledge of it?
I would tell them that Noosa is where Australians choose or aspire to holiday. It is sophisticated yet warm and friendly, it is more than just a beach holiday.
7 What’s your favourite haunt/spot/view/thing to do around Noosa?
I like to run in the National Park and surf the points. I would like to end or start the day in the water, however that doesn’t always happen. I like to have coffee or dine at Vanilla Cafe on Gympie Terrace or Bistro C on Hastings Street.
8 Your most unusual Noosa experience…
While not quite unusual, perhaps more unique, I was surfing at Tea Tree one afternoon when a huge sun ray leapt out of the water several metres from me. I was amazed, but even more amazing it appeared that no one else saw it.
9 Where was your last holiday?
My last real holiday was driving around the South Island of New Zealand with my partner Hayley.
10 Name someone who has inspired you and why?
My 5 year old son Jack is my current inspiration. He has shown me a different way to look at the world and that it is fine and fun to act like a kid again!
