Arts & Culture

Noosa has a rich and diverse cultural heritage. The arts, music and drama scene all blend superbly with the stunning backdrop.

Discover the creative side of Noosa with artists and artisans including glass blowers, printers, painters, sculptors and ceramicists who showcase their work in local businesses, cafes, markets, book shops, restaurants and galleries. Or for something a little different, enjoy a master class or workshop run by a local artist.

The main public art gallery is the Noosa Regional Gallery, which presents a strong collection of Australian contemporary art and local and touring exhibitions. Discover the fascinating history of the region at the Noosa Museum located in the picturesque hinterland town of Pomona, just 25 minutes from Noosa Heads.

Be entertained by Noosa’s musicians and performers at local venues and restaurants, free community concerts, at annual festivals and Pomona’s historic cinema.

The Noosa Long Weekend Festival is an annual event in July which celebrates local talent and well known and emerging talent from all over Australia. It’s 10 days of arts, literature, dance, drama, music, food and fun. The Noosa Jazz Festival has the town swinging in September each year with the sounds of jazz ringing throughout restaurants, cafes, venues and parks.

Noosa Notes

The other side of Noosa

The other side of Noosa

Today, it’s hard not to visit a beach and see some Stand Up Paddle boarders (SUP’ers) enjoying their sport on the fringe of the surf riders. Or better still, seeing an early morning SUP’er on a quiet river or canal going through their daily core exercise. The urban myth is that SUP’ing is as old and traditional as surfing, originating in Hawaii generations ago. That’s only half true.

Toes in the sand for Noosa Festival of Surfing

Surfing legends, old guys, gals, tandem surfers and even dogs have made Noosa beach their home this week for the Noosa Festival of Surfing. It’s referred to as “8 days of pure stoke”, “a party on the beach” and “a celebration of the spirit of surfing”, and these sum up pretty well why the Noosa Festival of Surfing holds such a special spot in the hearts of surfers.

Reflections of a Noosa summer

Reflections of a Noosa summer

It's autumn already and not that that's a bad thing. We are surrounded by absolutely bliss pretty much all year round here at beautiful Noosa. I do however find myself not quite ready to leave another summer behind me yet. So before I embrace all that autumn has to offer, I'd like to share some of the splendour and bliss of my Noosa summer.
