10 Holiday Must-Dos

Noosa’s stunning natural beauty – from the sea to the river and countryside – has got you covered for holiday fun, from sunrise to sunset and beyond. Here are our top tips for your Noosa holiday that you can’t miss!

1. BEACH DAYS

Swim, laze, surf, paddle or stroll the soft sands of more than a dozen beaches, bays and secret coves. Splash at patrolled Noosa Main Beach near Hastings Street, explore Noosa National Park’s serene bays, surf open breaks or walk for miles from Sunshine to Peregian Beaches, and discover the ancient dunes and rugged coastline of Noosa North Shore.

2. RIVER RENDEZVOUS

Follow the Noosa River from the Coral Sea, through lakes and riverside villages to the tannin-rich waters of Great Sandy National Park. Swim, boat, jet ski, sail, kayak, SUP or fish – hire gear or bring your own, or jump aboard a river cruise. Wander the Noosaville boardwalk and stop by nearby cafés, bars and restaurants, from sunrise coffees to sunset cocktails, picnics and fish and chips by the water.

3. NOOSA EVERGLADES: THE RIVER OF MIRRORS

Just 30 minutes from Noosa Heads, one of only two everglades systems on Earth is a 60km maze of pristine, tea tree-stained waterways that reflect the magnificent flora and skies. More than 40% of Australia’s bird species live here, and you can explore on guided or self-guided kayak tours, overnight adventures or a half-day cruise.

4. CRUISE TO SEE DOLPHINS & WHALES

Spot playful dolphins year-round and migrating humpback whales from June to November. Join adventure boat tours across Laguna Bay that lap Noosa National Park’s rocky headland for unforgettable wildlife moments – you can even snorkel, kayak or swim alongside them.

5. NOOSA NORTH SHORE: A COASTAL WILDERNESS

A 5-minute car ferry trip from Tewantin takes you to 80km of beaches, dunes and forest wilderness. Explore by 4WD, horseback, on foot or camping – drive yourself or tours available. Follow the beach road to Double Island Point for ocean fun, surfing and kayak tours, and to Rainbow Beach, the Coloured Sands and K’gari (Fraser Island).

6. K’GARI (FRASER ISLAND): A WORLDLY WONDER

Just a day trip from Noosa (tours available or drive your 4WD), World Heritage-listed K’gari is the world’s largest sand island, home to the indigenous Butchulla people. Discover 250km of beaches, freshwater lakes and creeks, rainforest, bays and giant sandblows. You can also camp or stay in eco retreats and luxe resorts, and unwind in nature.

7. POV: PERCHED UP HIGH WITH THE BIRDS

See Noosa’s kaleidoscope of beaches, lakes, river, National Parks, mountains and country villages from above, with a choice of stunning mountaintop and cliff-edge lookouts. Hike, drive or stroll to the top and soak in the sweeping views. Sunrise and sunset are spectacular, but every hour feels magical.

8. VENTURE OUT FOR VILLAGE VIBES

Explore Noosa’s eclectic villages: Browse Eumundi’s markets, boutiques in Peregian Beach, enjoy casual riverside dining, then wander hinterland towns with country pubs, galleries and farm produce. Noosa’s villages will take you to riverfront sunsets, surfside towns, artists’ hubs, and a countryside framed by lakes, trails and mountains.

9. WALK THE NOOSA NATIONAL PARK TRACKS

Noosa National Park’s beaches, rainforest and wildlife are protected thanks to decades of local care. The headland’s coastal and inland forest trails that start near Hastings Street and Noosa Main Beach lead to beaches, sandy bays, stunning ocean lookouts and surf breaks. The first sections are paved and accessible.

10. TREK THE NOOSA BIOSPHERE TRAILS

Walk, cycle or ride a horse across 100km of sign-posted tracks linking National Parks, State forests, creeks, farms and towns in the Noosa hinterland. Take a short day trip from Noosa Heads or stay overnight in historic towns where country pubs and cosy cafés welcome you..
