Coolum Beach

Coolum is a relaxed beachside village popular with families and couples, and is just 20 minutes south of Noosa Heads. With a year-round patrolled surf beach and wonderful bays to explore, Coolum Beach is perfect to get away and enjoy the natural coastal environment.

Why we love it

Coolum is perfectly positioned for fabulous views up and down the Coast and is one of the best spots for land-based whale watching (from June to October). Coolum also boasts one of the best beachside boardwalks on the Sunshine Coast, following the coastline for many kilometres.

Things to do

With something for everyone, Coolum is home to world champion surfers who grew up surfing the region’s famous breaks. Why not try a surf lesson or hire a surfboard, boogie board or stand-up paddle board?

Mount Coolum golf course is a less challenging but delightful 18-hole course in picturesque surroundings, in the shadow of Mount Coolum. The occasional kangaroo pops in to check out the action.

What's on the menu

Coolum Surf Club has regular entertainment and the town hosts a variety of events throughout the year. A must-do is the Friday night Bare Foot Bowls at Coolum Beach Bowls Club or a family night out at the Coolum Beach Hotel. Restaurants, cafes and takeaways line Coolum's main street.

Don't Miss This

Proudly protective of the environment, Coolum Coast Care has created wonderful sanctuaries for flora and fauna, boasting many natural bushwalks from the Northern Mount Emu, winding through Coolum Beach to Yaroomba and including Mount Coolum. This landmark mountain which greets you as you drive north towards Noosa requires a good level of fitness to climb but offers stunning views. It is accessible via Tanah Street West, off David Low Way.

A laidback holiday atmosphere that welcomes you with beachy vibes.
