The 2024-25 financial year marked a significant period of growth, innovation and community engagement for our Plastic Free Noosa (PFN) program, with the Annual Highlights Report tracking the impact on waste reduction in the community.

The program’s activities and work with local businesses (176 active members, including 72 Champions) aim to eliminate single-use plastics, inspiring behaviour change from locals and visitors. This positions Noosa as a leader in sustainable tourism, working alongside Tourism Noosa’s Travel for Good and Tread Lightly Noosa initiatives.

PFN highlights in 2024–25 include:

• 28,749kg of plastic eliminated.

• 41,816 single-use plastic water bottles avoided.

• 8 community clean-ups with 176 volunteers.

• 144.9kg of litter removed from beaches, riverbanks and public spaces.

Key initiatives:

• Precious Plastic Noosa project, turning plastic bottle caps collected by the community into new products.

• Reusable Coffee Cup Trial at the Noosa Eat & Drink Festival – Noosa’s first single-use coffee cup-free event.

• Plastic Free July – engaging the community.

• Waste Warriors at major events.
