Tourism Nooosa's new Precious Plastic Noosa community recycling initiative is transforming plastic waste into gorgeous new Noosa products.
The pilot program, a partnership between our Plastic Free Noosa program, Noosa Council and Sunshine Beach State High School, with the support of Sandy Bolton MP, is turning plastic bottle tops, which often can't be recycled and end up in landfill, into Noosa-branded pens and surfboard wax combs. The products are available for purchase at the Noosa Visitor Information Centre in Hastings Street.
Visitors will also get the chance to learn about the program and take a 'Made in Noosa' recycled plastic keepsake home with them after their stay.
The initiative, turning waste into something meaningful, reflects the Noosa community’s standing as a UNESCO Biosphere Reserve and its ongoing sustainability journey.
Students at Sunshine Beach State High School are among the first to participate, learning about sustainability and product design as part of an integrated school curriculum.
