We spoke to local resident Miranda about her experiences as a traveller and what she loves about accessibility in Noosa, and Kerry, the founder of The Accessible Group, about why including accessible facilities (big or small) is the right thing to do – with economic and social benefits.
With more than one-third of the population needing accessible facilities at some point in their lives, including the 18% who live with a disability, and retirees and others with mobility issues, it makes good business sense, and is the right thing to do.
Kerry explains some of the simple things tourism operators can do to improve accessibility for locals and visitors, including in entrance-ways, showers and pools, and how this will help future-proof your business.
She says: “Don’t expect to do accessibility all at once, but start somewhere.”
