A 5-minute journey across the Noosa River via the car ferry at Tewantin takes you to Noosa North Shore – more than 80km of unspoilt open beaches, golden sands and forest wilderness to explore.

It’s popular for camping, fishing, beach horse-riding, surfing, 4 wheel driving and more (permits required for most camping and driving – please see below). It’s also the gateway to the Cooloola Great Walk through the Great Sandy National Park, and to World Heritage-listed K'gari - Fraser Island.

Discover an unspoilt wilderness, just moments from Noosa Heads, and explore the Noosa North Shore by 4WD of with one of the many local tour companies in Noosa.

Why we love it

Pristine landscape surrounds, with beaches, lakes and national parks. Discover ancient sand dunes, sparkling blue ocean, miles of white sandy beaches, and native wildlife. Try kayaking on Lake Cooroibah, or guided four-wheel-drive tours are available from Noosa Heads to Noosa North Shore.

What’s on the menu

Go beach fishing and catch your own dinner! The relaxed, breezy bar and bistro at Noosa North Shore Retreat, between the ferry landing and the beach, offers plenty of fun for the kids and a relaxing vibe for adults.

Our tip

Don’t forget to contact the Queensland Parks & Wildlife Service for vehicle access and camping permits before you head over (stop at the office just before the barge). They also have information and updates on exploring the spectacular beach and forest tracks and trails.
