Noosa North Shore

What to Expect

A 5-minute journey across the Noosa River via the car ferry at Tewantin takes you to Noosa North Shore – more than 80km of unspoilt open beaches, golden sands and forest wilderness.

It’s popular for camping, fishing, beach horse-riding, surfing, 4 wheel driving and more (permits required for most camping and driving – please see below). It’s also the gateway to the Cooloola Great Walk through the Great Sandy National Park, and to World Heritage-listed Fraser Island.

Why we love it

Pristine landscape surrounded by beach, lakes and National Park. Discover ancient sand dunes, sparkling blue ocean, miles of white sandy beaches and native wildlife including kangaroos and birds.

Kayak on Lake Cooroibah. Guided and tag-along four wheel drive tours are available from Noosa.

What’s on the menu

Go beach fishing and catch your own dinner!

A bar and bistro with plenty of fun for the kids is open for lunch, dinner and drinks on Fridays and Saturday, and for lunch on Sundays.

Our tip

Don’t forget to contact the Queensland Government Parks & Wildlife Service for vehicle access and camping permits before you head over.

They also have information and updates on exploring spectacular beach and forest tracks and trails.

Hidden gem

Join a tour from Noosa or drive yourself along Noosa North Shore, past Teewah village and the ancient and incredible Coloured Sands.
