The HinterHub is Noosa and District Landcare Group’s [NDLG] retail shop and nursery. The HinterHub stocks the wares of local artisans, along with locally endemic native plants. The Hub has everything from earrings, necklaces, clothing, pottery, books, cards, toys, bags, soaps and other natural personal care products, as well as just beautiful pieces of art focussing on our natural wonders of the Noosa Hinterland. All the wares are locally made out of upcycled or sustainable natural products, all very unique and made with love and care.
The HinterHub building itself was the former Coles Creek School (near Skyring Creek) and was moved to its’ current site on the back of a timber jinker in the early 1960s. The Queensland Country Women’s Association used it as their centre until the mid-1980s.
Later, Noosa Shire Council acquired the building for Noosa & District Landcare, which opened on the 18th March 1993. After 27 years as the administration centre for Noosa & District Landcare, the building was closed to the public during Covid-19 in 2020. During that time it received a makeover ready for its’ official reopening as ‘The HinterHub’ on the 1st December 2020.
With over 20-years’ experience in vegetation management and horticulture, Noosa and District Landcare provides a diverse range of services including carbon offsets, ecosystem restoration, native forest establishment and environmental property consultancy.
Our strong environmental ethic and ability to deliver quality results, starting from project proposal stage through to implementation and post implementation maintenance, is widely recognised.
We integrate training and education into everything we do by providing vocational and technical training and community awareness raising programs.
We work directly with landholders, local, state and federal government, private investors, schools, universities and catchment care groups in the Burnett, Mary and Sunshine Coast regions. We deliver presentations and workshops both locally and interstate.
Whilst operating primarily at a grass roots level, Noosa & District Landcare also contributes at a strategic planning level on matters of state and national significance.
Since its inception in 1991, Noosa & District Landcare has been operating as a not for profit organisation. Surpluses from commercial activities are reinvested in resources to directly support the continuity of community education and training programs, and ensure the sustainability of NDLG in its capacity to employ local people
The HinterHub is a proud initiative of NDLG. Services and management are provided from our depot in Pavilion Street.
So come into the HinterHub and buy some local wares for your next birthday/anniversary/christening gift and grab some endemic native species for your property or garden while you're at it! Not only will you be supporting Noosa & District Landcare, but also the dozen of local artisans who are supplying our shop. You will find us at Station Street opposite the Pomona Pub.
