Tourism Noosa is the not-for-profit, peak tourism organisation for the Noosa Council region, focused on sustainable, ethical, viable and value-adding tourism development. We represent more than 600 members, made up of Noosa tourism operators and supporting businesses. The environmental sustainability of our piece of paradise here in Noosa and surrounding areas is of high importance for us and we strive to enhance the natural world where we live, work and play by contributing through a variety of environmental programs.

A number of sustainability initiatives are led by Tourism Noosa in close collaboration with stakeholders including Noosa Council and environmental groups such as the Queensland Government Department of Environment & Science, Queensland Parks & Wildlife, Noosa & District Landcare, Noosa Biosphere Reserve Foundation, Noosa Integrated Catchment Association, Noosa Parks Association, Zero Emissions Noosa and the Noosa World Surfing Reserve.

From the hinterland to the coast, Noosa’s natural green environment and unique quality of life is cherished by locals and admired by visitors, as evidenced by Noosa being recognised as a UNESCO Biosphere Reserve in 2007.

Tourism is one of Noosa’s key industries, generating more than $1.2 billion for the town’s economy in a normal year (year ending December 2019) and employing approximately 4300 people. Consumer demand for sustainable tourism practices in Australia has been rising for several years – industry, Government and tourism operators have increasingly recognised the advantages of meeting higher environmental standards. The Noosa community has a long and proud history of protecting and enhancing this region’s world-class nature for generations to come, and Tourism Noosa has come along on this journey through implementing environmentally sustainable programs as outlined below.

We will be encouraging everyone who visits us for the 2022 NOOSA QICA Conference to help enjoy, learn about, and participate in some of our initiatives.
