By Laguna Signage Solutions

Our first women's only retreat for locals, created by locals, will be held at Beach Road Holiday Homes. This event was inspired by the amazing women who live in our shire who have so much knowledge and so many gifts to share.

The retreat is about connecting with each other, having some fun, gaining some knowledge and sharing our voices. It's about giving ourselves some time out to really relax together.

The event starts with an indigenous opening ceremony on Friday 28 February. Saturday morning QIgong will be offered on the lawns, followed by a feast of presentations, talks and workshops on health and wellbeing, relationships, creativity, business and personal development. There'll be time to swim in the pool, play tennis and take some precious "me" time to reconnect with nature.

The Saturday night is white party night with local musicians entertaining while guests feast and dance the night away.

Tourism Noosa members receive a $100 discount for booking by 1 October. You can book directly online or by email (see details below). We'd love you to join the Noosa Circle and celebrate being a women in our wonderful town.

Management training for small business

By Regional Training Services Qld

In today’s challenging market, one great way for employers to retain key staff is to provide them opportunities to improve their skills and advance in their careers.

Recognising the need to upskill existing workers in Queensland small business, the Queensland Government has introduced 'The Higher-Level Skills' program. This provides a government subsidy to support eligible individuals to access subsidised training in selected certificate IV or above qualifications, and priority skill sets.

As a pre-qualified supplier for the Queensland Government, local provider Regional Training is able to provide quality training to eligible businesses and individuals in BSB42518 Certificate IV in Small Business Management.

The ability to match training to the employer’s needs is one of the big benefits of modern accredited training. This flexibility allows each qualification to be tailored, to not only meet the current needs of the business, but also those of the future.

To find out more about this great program contact the Regional Training team.

Locals set to benefit from Council’s free data portal

By Noosa Council

Carolyn Bullen from Noosa Council and Carolyn Winkler from Slow Food Noosa look at Council's new statistics and data portal.

Local businesses, start-ups, investors and community groups can reap the benefits as Noosa Council rolls out its free data and statistics portal to the public. The collaboration between RDA, and Noosa Council means the most up-to-date data, statistics and trends for Noosa will now be available for free through Council’s website.

Noosa Council’s Senior Economic Development Advisor Carolyn Bullen said this combined dataset will make it much easier for people to navigate Noosa-specific statistics as they are gathered from various sources including the Australian Bureau of Statistics, and all pooled into one handy place.

Users can access two different profiles: an Economic Profile which uses 11 different datasets to build a story of Noosa’s economy, how it is changing and how it compares to other areas; and a Community Profile, which provides demographic analysis such as age, incomes, ethnicity and households in the region. The statistics can be used for student research, a start-up doing due diligence, a local business planning for growth, a property developer researching the area before investing here, or an organisation that is writing an award or grant submission.

There’s data on everything from household incomes and spending in Noosa, to jobs, demographics, property data and economic impact calculators. The data can be accessed via the Business tab on Noosa Council’s website (see link below).
