Noosa's stunning environment is one of the main reasons why visitors from all over the world choose to holiday in the area, and we are passionate about protecting and nurturing our pristine natural surroundings.
Noosa's major events play a big role in Trees for Tourism by donating $1 for every paying event participant to the program and its projects. One of these projects is the Noosa Trail Network rehabilitation initiative which plants shade trees for walkers on the trail network, assists with erosion and improves the habitat for local wildlife, including koalas.
Many tourism businesses in Noosa contribute to Trees for Tourism and regularly donate a few dollars at local industry events.
It isn't an official carbon-offset program but it’s estimated that one tree planted from Trees for Tourism on average will sequester 124 kg of CO2 over its lifetime (to give you an idea of what that means, an average car produces approximately 180kg of CO2 per 100km). To date, Trees for Tourism’s 5,000+ trees will remove approximately 655 tonnes of C02!
