Eastern Beaches

With more than a dozen beaches, bays and hidden coves around Noosa, you’re spoiled when it comes to choosing your piece of paradise.

A scenic section on the east coast, just a few minutes south of Noosa Heads, stretches from Sunshine Beach to Peregian. In between, you'll find the quiet seclusion of Sunrise, Castaways and Marcus beaches. While not patrolled year-round, these beaches are perfect for surfing open breaks or if you want plenty of space for a long walk on the sand. They are ideal for pooches with beach accesses 39-48 being off-lead beaches for dogs.

A number of accommodation resorts are located along these beaches for visitors who want to get away from it all.

Sunrise Beach

The expansive stretch of golden sand at Sunrise Beach is lapped by pristine surf rolling in from the ocean. The area is almost entirely surrounded by Noosa National Park, with the coastline jutting into the ocean and fringing Lake Weyba. While Sunrise Beach is only patrolled by lifesavers on weekends and during the Easter and Christmas holidays, it is an ideal spot for long walks, and there are great lookout spots, perfect for whale-watching (June to October).

Castaways Beach

You’ll find delightful Castaways Beach, a pet-friendly beach, nestled between Sunrise and Peregian Beach. Castaways has picturesque walking trails and the surf break is favoured by local surfers for its easy access and consistent, good quality waves. There’s no esplanade, cafés or fast food outlets within walking distance, so grab some picnic supplies from nearby villages of Peregian Beach or Sunrise Beach if you plan to make a day of it.

Marcus Beach

No trip to the Sunshine Coast is complete without a visit to Marcus Beach. Many sections of the beach are dog-friendly, so expect to meet a few friendly resident canines as you walk the open stretches of shoreline that lead all the way to Peregian.

Head south of Noosa Heads for a stunning scenic coastal drive, passing through Sunshine Beach, Sunrise Beach, Castaways Beach and Marcus Beach.
