The chilled beachfront village of Sunshine Beach is set beneath a canopy of green trees and pandanus palms – perfect for a relaxing beach holiday. Stay in spectacular beachfront holiday homes or luxe resorts, and walk to a great range of restaurants, cafes, hip bars and takeaways.

It’s on the southern side of the Noosa National Park headland, about a 5-minute drive from Noosa Heads – you can even walk around the headland from Noosa Heads to Sunshine Beach (about 2.5 hours) - for stunning coastal views.

Sunshine Beach is the start of a 15km stretch of open beaches with surf breaks and plenty of white sand, perfect for long walks or even a bike ride.

Why we love it here

Relax into the laidback holiday vibe of this little seaside hamlet. Wander from your holiday digs to the beach and watch the sunrise over the sea. Bring the dog to play on the off-leash dog beach at the northern end. Look out for humpback whales passing by from June to October. Dive in for a swim in the crystal-clear ocean, watch great surfing action at North Sunshine, or bring your board and join them.

The shopping list

Between the restaurants, cafés, bars and other local haunts, the little village on Duke Street is also home to haircuts, suitably cool surf stores, elegant homewares, beautiful gifts, Pilates and yoga studios, and a boutique bottle shop. Take home breezy linen fashions, unique surfwear, and coastal-luxe homewares to enjoy Sunshine Beach vibes every day!

What’s on the menu

The main hub, Duke Street, has global cuisine including some of our best modern Asian at Embassy XO, authentic Italian eats, and delicious Middle Eastern-inspired small plates at Humble on Duke. The always-popular Sunshine Beach Surf Club has undergone a multi-million dollar renovation and offers impressive views and good times in a cool architectural space.

Stairway to heaven

Walk or jog up the ‘Sunshine Beach stairs’ (let us know how many!) at the northern end of the beach for the most beautiful clifftop views of the Noosa National Park headland and Coral Sea.

Find hearty to healthy food, coffee and cold-pressed juice, surf breaks, local mates and endless luxury escapes.
