Carbon Free Noosa travel calculator

Trees are a vital element of life. They capture carbon dioxide from the atmosphere giving us clean air to breathe and helping us to tackle the climate crisis.

Our Trees for Tourism program has a positive impact on climate change and directly contributes to the United Nations Global Goals for Sustainable Development. Because this is a local reforestation project, we partner with Noosa Shire’s great team at Noosa & District Landcare and Noosa Council who choose vital deforested locations critical to wildlife corridors and rehabilitation forests for koalas, glossy Black cockatoos and many other at risk species in South East Queensland.

OFFSET YOUR TRAVEL

In this online travel calculator so far, we have used a single tree carbon measurement to estimate your tree planting donation. The accepted carbon sequestration approach at national level is to measure actual real carbon achieved in a revegetation plot by hectare (its called the Full-cam modelling approach).

WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW

Trees for Tourism helps to restore an important biodiverse habitat for future generations. However, it is not a carbon offset product. You cannot claim carbon neutrality or offset your footprint or reduce greenhouse gas emissions through purchasing trees.

The calculations used with Noosa & District Landcare for this tree planting project are based on evidence-based estimations using an average for hectares of planting and potential life of each tree.
