Amamoor State Forest

Amamoor State Forest has accessible recreational areas beside a picturesque creek, and is a beautiful spot for bushwalks, bird-watching, picnics and camping. It's located in the Mary Valley, near Noosa's hinterland.

More than 120 bird species have been sighted in its riverine rainforests. Enjoy a walk through the forest along trickling creeks and streams.

From Amama day-use area, take the Platypus walk (300m return) to a viewing platform for a chance to see a platypus. The rainforest walk at Cedar Grove features huge red cedars and fig trees. Cedar Grove and Amamoor Creek camping areas have large, flat sites. In August, the forest comes alive with the sounds of the annual National Country Music Muster.

The forest produces some of the finest hoop pine in Queensland.

Heading towards Gympie. north-west of Noosa, the forest is 10km west of Amamoor along the Amamoor Creek Road
