New Kabi Kabi artwork at the Noosa Visitor Information Centre, titled Pathway to the Oyster Festival, tells the story of the pathways that Aboriginal people, including Kabi Kabi, used for thousands of years as they travelled to the area now known as Tewantin on the banks of the Noosa River.

They would gather for the seasonal oyster feast and to share resources, food and knowledge.

The painting is by Kabi Kabi artist Melissa Bond and there’s also information that explains the cultural values of the river and the work now being done to restore the oyster reefs at this location through a project by The Nature Conservancy, Kabi Kabi, Noosa Council, The Thomas Foundation and Noosa Parks Association.

The Noosa Oyster Gardening project is one of six activities in Tourism Noosa's Tread Lightly Noosa program which helps visitors offset the impact of their travels.
