Dozens of volunteers joined our Trees for Tourism tree planting with Noosa & District Landcare on the Cooroora Trail in Cooran, planting 500 native trees.

Tourism Noosa staff and Board Director Leigh McCready were joined by Noosa Councillors Joe Jurisevic and Tom Wegener, Noosa Council staff, event crews from Ironman (Noosa Triathlon) and Noosa Ultra-Trail, Noosa Hinterland Brewing Co., Cooran State School, Cooran Cutters and Noosa Landcare’s Skilling Queenslanders for Work crew.

Trees for Tourism plantings on the Noosa Biosphere Trails provide shade for walkers, and improve connectivity for wildlife, water quality and erosion mitigation.

Tree plantings are funded through our Trees for Tourism activity under our Tread Lightly program. Major events are the main contributor, providing sponsorship raised through event participation.

Trees for Tourism has so far raised almost $60,000, planting more than 5500 trees which have sequestered 691 tonnes of carbon.
