Tread lightly & travel for good

Embrace sustainable travel with these tips for responsible exploration in Noosa. From conscious consumption to eco-friendly transport, together, let's preserve the biosphere reserve and create a positive impact on our planet.

Consume consciously

By prioritising sustainable products and minimising waste, including single-use plastics. Noosa Shire offers opportunities for conscious consumption, such as Plastic Free Noosa: www.plasticfreenoosa.org

Recycle and dispose of rubbish in the right bins

Recycle efficiently by sorting materials into designated bins, conserving resources and contributing to a cleaner, more sustainable biosphere. Opt for eco-friendly travel with the Go Noosa program, reducing your carbon footprint and enjoying a greener commute.

Enjoy public transport over car travel

Choose eco-friendly travel to cut your carbon footprint, ease congestion, and save energy and money. During peak holidays, Go Noosa offers free buses, including the 065 Go Noosa Loop Bus. Search 'Go Noosa' for a greener, more enjoyable commute.

Respect no-go areas and stick to pathways

Stick to designated paths in Noosa to minimise ecological impact. Straying causes track-braiding, heightening erosion in the Biosphere Reserve. Travel responsibly for harmonious coexistence with nature in this precious biosphere reserve.

Travel for good

Not just about an exploration of places, but a conscious embrace of responsible travel, cultivating a sense of mindfulness and connection to Noosa. Together with Emily Redfern & Noosa Biosphere Reserve Foundation - learn ways to roam with less impact on the planet.

A Wish to Visitors

Noosa Biosphere Reserve Foundation Youth Eco Award Winner 2023 Taylor Ladd Hudson, consecutive award winners 2022 and 2021 Jarrah Small and Spencer Hitchen and finalist 2023 Millie Toy have joined forces with Visit Noosa to share their insightful perspectives. When we posed the question to these passionate individuals - about their one wish for visitors entering the Noosa Region, their responses painted a vivid picture of sustainable harmony and enriched experiences.

My one wish for future Noosa visitors to achieve a more sustainable future is to respect and learn how to co-exist alongside present wildlife in the area. Please treat them respectfully and acknowledge that we are entering their home so they can continue to thrive in healthy populations for future generations to enjoy. A drop becomes a ripple, a ripple becomes a wave, and waves do change tides.

Our Wildlife is precious they need you to care as you holiday in their homes. Help clean a beach, pick up litter or recycle bottles and cans, lead by example and show others you understand. Go slow on the busy roads to protect the wildlife we all love and need. Fish responsibly to prevent Wildlife from getting entangled in discarded fishing line. Bring your reusable bottles for the water you drink, refusing single-use plastic is the Noosa way.

I hope while you are on your holiday in Noosa you will take the time to Observe and Learn about our local species and the habitats they call home. When you connect to nature you have greater respect and start to realise your impact which teaches you to be a better custodian while you are on Gubbi Gubbi, Kabi Kabi Country. I invite you to come on a journey with me throughout your stay in Noosa and do what I do… Observe, Learn and protect - your local environment. Pick up my calendar from Tourism Noosa Info Centre or on my website to learn more and make the most of your stay. Photo Credit : Rob Maccoll - Noosa Today

I would love for the Noosa Visitors to stop, take a breath and look at their beautiful surroundings. I would love for them to appreciate the pristine beauty of the gorgeous beaches, parks and animals. To ensure it stays this way, it is really important to pick up your litter and leave no trace behind. This is so upcoming generations can also enjoy Noosa, and the animals that call this place home can live on happily.
